Spiritual Benefits of Reading the Qur'an

1.Qur'an Act's as 'Intercessor

- Sahih Muslim 804a : Book 6, Hadith 302

Abu Umama said he heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) say:

“Recite the Qur’an, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite It. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqara and Surah Al ‘Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Surah al-Baqara, for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it. (Mu’awiya said: It has been conveyed to me that here Batala means magicians.”

2.Light in the Grave (Implied Meaning)

  • While the grave is not explicitly mentioned in Qur’an, Allah says:

- Surah Al-Baqarah (2:257) :

“Allah is the Guardian of the believers—He brings them out of darkness and into light. As for the disbelievers, their guardians are false gods who lead them out of light and into darkness. It is they who will be the residents of the Fire. They will be there forever..”

Meaning –
  • The Qur’an is often described as “light” in many verses, which scholars interpret as meaning it gives light in the grave and the Hereafter for those who lived by it.

3. Healing for the Heart and Body

- Surah Al-Isra (17:82) :

We send down the Quran as a healing and mercy for the believers, but it only increases the wrongdoers in loss.

Meaning –
  • It[Quran] provides spiritual, psychological, and even physical healing.
